Patrick N. Downes
Senior Counsel

Patrick Downes maintains a general business litigation practice with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, professional liability and SEC enforcement matters. He has represented major accounting firms and their current or former partners in complex securities and professional liability litigation and SEC and state board of accountancy proceedings. He has defended clients against allegations of securities fraud, including misstated financial statements and accounting fraud, misleading projections, improper revenue recognition, improper accounting for special purpose entities and insurance reserves. These matters have included entities in a variety of industries, including real estate, insurance, defense, government contractors and healthcare.

Mr. Downes also has substantial experience in insurance coverage disputes and obligations of corporate directors and officers.

Prior Work Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Downes was a litigation associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP from 1999 to 2005.
