Currently adaptive reuse projects — or the conversion of existing properties for entirely new uses —are on the rise in several real estate markets.  While it is generally every real estate attorney’s preference that a client would involve them from the very beginning stages of a project, that rarely occurs.  Loeb & Loeb partner Paul Rohrer is quoted on the importance of getting up to speed on adaptive reuse projects quickly to flag any potential zoning, financial and other obstacles as early as possible for the clients.  He states: “What is important is to really get into the nuts and bolts of the project to think of it as a real physical thing, instead of a theoretical legal issue.”
