Judge Axes $5M In Attys' Fees From Toyota Headlight Suit

By Derek Hawkins, Law360
Loeb & Loeb LLP is noted as counsel for Toyota Motor Corp. in defense of a consumer class action alleging that the headlights in certain Prius vehicles violated California consumer protection laws. The case was settled on terms favorable to the company and, in connection with the settlement, plaintiffs’ counsel sought to obtain an attorneys’ fee award in excess of $4.7 million. Toyota objected and the court awarded plaintiffs’ counsel just $766,000.
