Loeb and Loeb LLP has named four lawyers to the firm partnership. Thomas Jirgal of the firm’s Chicago office; Arash Khalili, Benjamin King, and Alyse Pelavin of the Los Angeles office have been promoted to partner.
Thomas Jirgal's practice focuses on intellectual property, advertising, and general litigation matters. He has represented clients in the entertainment, communications, and financial services industries in cases involving copyright, trademark, false advertising, trade secret, contract, fiduciary duty, defamation, invasion of privacy, employment, civil forfeiture, antitrust and unfair competition claims. Jirgal also counsels clients on advertising matters, including the substantiation needed for advertising claims, and the management and licensing of intellectual property. Jirgal is a contributing author to Loeb & Loeb’s Advanced Media and Technology Law Blog.
Arash Khalili handles a wide range of corporate, entertainment and real estate matters, representing clients in a variety of industries, both domestically and internationally. Khalili advises both individual and institutional clients on a broad range of transactions, including licensing, distribution, acquisitions, sale and restructuring, and other entertainment and corporate matters.
Benjamin King is a commercial litigator and creditors’ rights attorney who has particular expertise in protecting creditors’ interests through the use of prejudgment remedies such as attachment, receiverships, and injunctive remedies. King has represented national financial institutions and a number of California lenders in exercising loan remedies, working out defaulted or troubled loans, and foreclosing upon or protecting loan collateral. He has also filed actions and litigated matters on behalf of creditors in pre-bankruptcy and bankruptcy contexts.
Alyse Pelavin focuses her practice on estate and gift tax planning for high net worth individuals and closely held businesses, and in the administration of estates and trusts. She also has extensive experience in the areas of charitable giving and tax exempt organizations. Pelavin’s estate planning experience includes probate court procedures, living trusts, gift and insurance trusts, and sophisticated tax transfer techniques. Her charitable giving and exempt organizations representation involves all aspects of tax and corporate nonprofit law.
