Monroe Estate Takes Hit

March 31, 2008 | The Wall Street Journal

Martin Pollner is quoted on the recent federal court ruling that when Marilyn Monroe died she was to be considered a resident of New York. This poses a problem for her estate and firm client, Marilyn Monroe LLC, who has heretofore considered Ms. Monroe a resident of California at the time of her death where the right of publicity law, unlike that in New York, survives a celebrity's death.
