Loretta Thompson's practice includes negotiating and facilitating real estate acquisitions and dispositions as well as handling tax exchanges for national REITs, corporations and individuals.
She is also experienced in negotiating and administrating finance transactions, commercial leasing, property management contracts and construction and design contracts.
Prior Work Experience
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Thompson worked for over seven years in real estate management, leasing, and sales in Southern California. She was the leasing and financial coordinator for L.A. Mart from 1995 to 1997, responsible for documenting and administering showroom leases and participating in the development of leasing policies and procedures. Ms. Thompson has also held positions in real estate asset management with Northern Trust Bank, Prudential’s Premisys Real Estate Services, and the former Tooley & Company, in addition to holding a real estate sales license.

Representation of a national real estate investment trust in the sale of a 620-unit apartment project for $74 million to the Bascom Group, and its syndicated partners

Representation of a national real estate investment trust in the documentation and administration of various real estate tax exchanges totaling approximately $550 million over a three year period, resulting in substantial tax savings

Representation of a global corporation manufacturing security detection devices in the negotiations for a multi-million dollar lease of environmentally impaired industrial space
