March 2, 2010

LOS ANGELES – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Daniel O’Connell Offner has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner and will chair the firm’s Interactive Entertainment Practice Group. Offner joins from the Los Angeles office of Nixon Peabody where he was a partner and chair of the Intellectual Property Transactions Practice Group.

Offner practices in the interactive entertainment and digital media industries, advising Fortune 100, middle market, and emerging companies on acquisition, sale, restructuring, financing, employment, and licensing issues. A primary focus of his practice is the representation of many of the top videogame publishers, technology companies, developers, and console manufacturers in the United States and worldwide on all aspects of their business.

“Dan regularly works with clients whose business interests lie at the intersection of content and technology, and he has an outstanding reputation in this space,” said Loeb & Loeb Co-Chair John Frankenheimer. “Our firm is positioned to strategically and effectively advise and service clients through this rapidly changing terrain, and Dan’s unique expertise and experience provides significant value in that regard.”

Mickey Mayerson, Co-Chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Corporate Media and Entertainment Practice Group and Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office said, “Dan’s expertise enhances the services we provide to our Entertainment Department clients and also complements the work being done by our Entertainment Finance and Advanced Media and Technology practices. With his extensive experience representing clients in the video game industry on the financing, development and publishing of videogames, he is a valuable addition to Loeb & Loeb and we look forward to working with him.”

Offner works closely with clients to structure, negotiate, finance and close complicated content acquisition, development and distribution transactions. He regularly advises clients on financing, mergers, acquisitions and due diligence issues in the interactive entertainment area, and helps clients with day-to-day licensing, co-branding, partnership, consulting, customer acquisition, advertising, content publishing, distribution and executive employment matters.

“Dan is part of an ongoing firm plan to make strategic lateral hires in areas that ensure our clients continue to receive the top notch counsel they have come to expect from Loeb & Loeb,” said Loeb & Loeb Co-Chair Michael Beck.

“Over the past few years, my work advising creators and publishers of interactive entertainment who are either using new financing methods or going onto the digital platform has increased tremendously,” said Offner. “At the same time, Loeb & Loeb has been expanding its entertainment finance work into the field of videogame financing, and has been diligent in building a department that is not only capable of providing clients with the insight necessary to grow their businesses on a digital platform, but is at the forefront of this industry, developing new and innovative financing and distribution strategies.”

Offner earned his B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. and M.B.A. from Boston University.
