Legal Framework for Wind Projects: a U.S. Perspective
November 2010 | Renewables: A Practical Handbook

Click here to download a PDF extract of the chapter.

The United States is the leader in installed wind power capacity, and U.S. wind power projects continue to experience rapid advances due in main part to the country's wind energy resources, technological advances in wind turbine design and construction, and shifts in the economics of wind power generation. This chapter examines the legal framework for wind projects in the U.S., including capacity and transmission issues, energy policy and financial incentives, technological advances, project siting and permitting, and power purchase agreements.
