Joseph Heffernan's primary experience is in real estate finance, workouts and restructurings, acquisitions and sales and leasing. His principal clients are banks, insurance companies, savings and loan associations, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and high net worth real estate investors.

Mr. Heffernan represents financial institutions in connection with major land acquisition and commercial and residential development projects; credit-enhanced bond financings; high-rise office buildings, shopping centers and industrial properties; workouts and restructurings; foreclosures of real and personal property collateral; enforcements of guaranties; negotiations of intercreditor agreements in multilender facilities and counseling as to fraudulent transfers and preference issues.

  • Representation of agent and lead lender for a $135 million loan to an opportunity fund to finance the cost of rehabilitation of one million square foot mixed-use project in Sherman Oaks, California
  • Representation of agent and lead lender for a $129 million term loan to an opportunity fund secured by office, apartment and retail buildings located in Los Angeles, California
