Infrastructure

Practice Capabilities

Today’s consumers rely on an efficient and modern energy infrastructure to meet their demands. The companies, utilities and public entities charged with maintaining and improving power plants and transmission grids in the US and abroad rely on having legal advisors who know their business, know how to craft creative deals and know where to find the right incentives and resources. Loeb & Loeb’s Energy Group is that legal team.

Loeb & Loeb works with clients who are involved in projects from a broad range of energy sectors, including electric, nuclear, hydro, renewables, natural gas and waste-to-energy power generation and transmission.

Our talented attorneys bring the experience and knowledge gained from decades of structuring complex infrastructure transactions for clients across the country and around the world. We help clients in the financing, development, permitting and construction of major infrastructure projects by identifying practical, performance-driven solutions.

We represent developers, owners, investors, lenders, financing authorities, public development entities, public-private partnerships, government entities, utilities, nonprofits and professional services firms that are involved in the design, engineering and construction aspects of large energy projects.

Our broad capabilities in the infrastructure area include matters related to:

  • Planning and development
  • Financing
  • Siting and permitting
  • Approvals and licensing
  • Environmental and land use
  • Equipment procurement
  • Construction
  • Decommissioning and demolition
  • Bankruptcy and workouts
  • Federal and state commission and agency hearings
  • Local government and municipality requirements

As the natural gas sector continues to evolve, the strategic guidance and industry knowledge that we bring to the table means our clients will continue to be among the first to move forward in implementing the plans that will best meet their operational and financial objectives.

Service Approach

Along with the in-depth industry knowledge offered by our Energy attorneys, Loeb & Loeb’s Energy Group draws upon the expertise of attorneys and professionals from many different practice areas, including Real Estate, Bankruptcy and Restructuring, and Commercial Finance. As a result, we are able to achieve practical, creative solutions that address our clients' business objectives and deliver cost-effective, streamlined service that focuses on their bottom line.

  • Represented an investor-owned utility in proceedings to certificate new transmission lines and a static VAR compensator.
  • Advised a California utility on issues related to transmission line development and cost recovery.
