In honor of Pride Month, Loeb joined hands with Paramount Global to launch a first-of-its-kind clinic supporting the local LGBTQIA+ community with advance health care directives (AHCDs). Loeb Trusts & Estates lawyers collaborated with lawyers from Paramount on June 8 to provide an AHCD pro bono legal clinic for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Inland Empire who are clients of Inland Counties Legal Services (ICLS). Founded in 1958, ICLS is a legal aid nonprofit working to close the justice gap for people with limited incomes or disabilities or who are over the age of 60. This initiative is aimed at helping bridge the gap in legal representation and improving the lives and rights of LGBTQIA+ people.
Loeb’s Pride group hosted a cocktail hour in the L.A. office for its lawyers and staff on June 29 to celebrate the firm’s LGBTQIA+ and ally community. Matthew Kugizaki, Loeb alum and the pro bono director of ICLS, joined to share insight on the firm’s pro bono support for the communities ICLS serves. Attendees also toasted those at Loeb who have committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community through pro bono work, including through our partnership with the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund’s Name Change Project and the Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ Legal Name/Gender Marker Change Clinic, as well as participation in the recent LGBTQIA+ AHCD clinic with ICLS.
