and
Chair, Interactive Entertainment Practice Group
Dan Offner is one of the leading lawyers in the interactive entertainment industry, in addition to working extensively in the traditional media, digital content and IT industries. His clients often work directly at the intersection of content and technology where new products, companies and industries are being born and rapidly growing. A primary focus of Mr. Offner's practice is the representation of many of the top videogame publishers, technology companies, developers, and console manufacturers in the United States and worldwide on all aspects of their business. He often works closely with clients to structure, negotiate, finance and close complicated content acquisition, development and distribution transactions. Increasingly, a large component of his practice is working with publishers of content for the digital platform as well as traditional retail to develop new and innovative financing and distribution strategies and transactions. Mr. Offner regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions and due diligence issues. In addition, he regularly assists clients with licensing, co-branding, partner, consulting, customer acquisition, advertising, content publishing, distribution and executive employment transactions.
Mr. Offner’s practice had its start in the publishing and media industries where he is still active. He began his career working for such clients as the copyright and trademark rights holders to The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, one of the main distributors of Japanese Anime videos in the United States, and the financiers of the Robocop animated children’s television series.
